Immigration to Jordan is represented by 30.62 percent of the population, or more than 3.3 million people which makes Jordan the 16th state with the highest number of immigrants and represents 1.3 percent of total global migration. Despite attempts to deter immigration, a large influx of refugees come from Syria due to the Syrian civil war.
Nearly 800,000 people, or 7.2 percent of its population has migrated to other states. Around 30 percent of all migrants have left to Saudi Arabia in the hope of finding a higher paying job.
With a military budget of just over US$2 billion, Jordan spends 4.77 percent of its GDP on its military. This makes Jordan the 61st highest military spender in the world representing 0.1 percent of total global military expenditure.

Despite being a democracy, as well as being one of the most democratic states in the region, it is still ranked as the 122nd most democratic state in the world. This is largely due to corruption and nepotism as well as the heavy influence of the Jordanian monarchy which is considered to be dominating Jordanian politics.
The politics of Jordan are in form of a parliamentary democracy where more than 20 political parties are headed by the Prime Minister of Jordan and the King of Jordan as head of state.

As the 10th most Christian state in the world, Christianity is followed by 92.9 percent of the Croat population. The majority of Croats adhere to the Catholic faith. When Croatia was incorporated in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, it was introduced by Protestantism, but this remained a minority denomination.
Islam is followed by 97.2 percent of the population which makes Jordan the 14th most Islamic state in the world. The vast majority adheres to the Sunni branch of Islam.
Buddhism is followed by 0.13 percent of the population and was established in the 1980s with the majority adhering to the Nying branch of Buddhism.
Around 0.05 percent population adheres to Judaism. This percentage was higher than before the second world war. During the second world war, Nazi Germany had established the Nazi friendly Croat state that aided in the persecution of the Jews throughout the region. This has led to a decline of Jews as well as a large migration of the Jews after the second world war.
Due to high investments in its educational system, which is approximately 10 percent of its GDP, Jordan has the highest literacy rate in the Arab world which stands at 97.6 percent and makes it the 65th highest in the world. Its educational system consists of free primary and secondary education.
Named after the river that also functions as a demarcation of its western border, Jordan is home to some of the world's most famous archaeological sites. Throughout its history, the territory of Jordan has been a part of some of the largest empires such as the Assyrian, Babylonian, Persian and Roman empire. From the 16th century until the end of the first world war, Jordan was a part of the Ottoman Empire. After the defeat of the Ottomans and the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire, the territory of Jordan came under British rule until it became fully sovereign in 1946. Following its independence, a short period of unrest ensued as the Jordan King was assassinated and his son deposed. His other son quickly gained control over Jordan and ruled Jordan throughout the second half of the 20th century. Since the start of the 21st century, a monarchy is still in place.
The overall territory of Jordan consists of a desert plateau and a low mountain range as well as a Valley on its western border. It borders Syria to its north, Iraq to its northeast, Saudi Arabia to its southeast and Israel and Palestine to its west.
It is the 110th largest state in the world with 89,789 square kilometers or 34,667 square miles. This makes Jordan larger than Serbia, but smaller than Portugal.
It is the 116th state with the highest amount of surface water which is 543 square kilometers or 211 square miles.

The largest supplier of fresh water is the Jordan River as well as several underground water basins. In total, water covers 0.6 percent of Jordan's total surface.
The climate of Jordan can be divided up in a Mediterranean climate which mostly influences the Western part of Jordan, and a desert climate that influences the eastern part of Jordan. There is a high temperature difference between its eastern and western part with an average temperature that is twice as high in its eastern part. On average, the temperature in Jordan is 18.9 degrees Celsius or 66 degrees Fahrenheit which makes Jordan the 116th warmest state in the world.
During the summer period, which is from June to September, the average temperature goes up to 23.6 degrees Celsius or 74.5 degrees Fahrenheit.
During its winter season, between December and February, the average temperature drops down to 13.2 degrees Celsius or 55.8 degrees Fahrenheit.
Jordan receives very little rainfall which mainly comes down during the winter period. On average, it receives 21.1 centimetres or 7.9 inches of rainfall per year. This makes Jordan the 182nd state with the highest amount of rainfall.
The capital of Jordan, Amman, is home to around 800,000 people. The capital that is closest located to Amman is Jerusalem which is both the capital of Israel and Palestine, with a distance of 104 kilometers or 65 miles. The capital that is furthest removed from Amman is Nuku'alofa, Tonga, with a distance of 16,728 kilometers or 10,394 miles.
The territory of Jordan is low on natural resources. This has led to high poverty rates until the turn of the 21st century. After the accession of a new monarch, a new economic policy was implemented which attracted foreign investments and has shown a large economic growth between 2000 and 2010. However, as a result of regional instability due to terrorist attacks as well as the Arab Spring, economic growth declined and has been fairly low over the last few years. Most of its exports are chemicals, clothing as well as fertilizers which are mainly exported to Saudi Arabia and the United States of which the United States is responsible for 25 percent of total exports. Most of its imports comes from China and the United States which combined represent more than 30 percent of all imports.

Almost all native Jordan's are ethnically Arab. However, as a result of political instability, a large influx of Palestinians as well as Syrians has led this number to decline. Today, Jordan has around 10.3 million people which makes it the 87th most populous state in the world.
Its population per square kilometer is 115 people or 297 people per square mile, giving it the 72nd highest population density in the world.
The Jordanian health care system has been of moderate standard over the last 30 years. However, due to a large influx of refugees as well as an aging population, the Jordanian health care system has been heavily burdened with uncertain healthcare coverage for its population in the future. On average, the life expectancy is 75 years with women reaching 76.8 years and men reaching 73.3 years. This makes Jordan the 62nd state with the highest life expectancy.
Jordan provides freedom of religion towards the religions that is officially recognizes. These are mainly religions that are compatible with the norms and morals of Islam.
There are no official Hindu organizations in Jordan.
Other religions comprise 0.07 percent of the population. These are mainly Druze people that they believe in reincarnation and the transmission of the soul.
Despite not formally recognizing irreligious people, it is estimated that 0.03 percent of the population does not adhere to any religion.
